Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of verbal motivation in developing the trait of willpower among football players. Verbal motivation is considered one of the important psychological methods used by coaches to guide players and enhance their motivation to achieve better performance during training and competition. The study also seeks to highlight the extent to which encouraging and motivational  words contribute to strengthening players’ determination and persistence in facing sporting challenges. The study adopted the descriptive–analytical approach, and a questionnaire was used as the main tool for data  collection from  players of  NC Magra (Nedjm Chabab Magra) competing in the Algerian Professional League 1. The results indicated that verbal motivation plays a positive role in developing the willpower trait among players by enhancing self-confidence, increasing motivation toward performance, and encouraging them to overcome difficulties and challenges during sports competitions.
