Abstract

After the commitment of various sciences to the application of scientific methodologies, their accuracy and certainty increased, especially after these methodologies were influenced by Cartesian mathematical rationalism. This does not negate the efforts of earlier rationalists, but rather indicates that Descartes added a scientific character to rationalism. In this article, we will present rationalism on its philosophical level and its extent in science, starting with the theory of knowledge with Alain, moving to the political and ethical aspects with Spinoza and Kant, and finally addressing the foundations of scientific knowledge that impart scientific rationality.
